Moderated by Election Law and Governance Specialist Lucianna Thuo, this year’s edition featured guest speaker Amaka Ibeji, an AI Governance Member at IAPP.

Let’s Talk Sessions are designed to encourage informal and interactive discussions on various privacy-related topics. With participants from all over Africa, this is an opportunity to connect, seek out inspiration, and find collaboration opportunities.
The 2024 edition under the topic: Data Protection and Elections in Africa featured Ms. Lilian B Mahiri-Zaja and was moderated by Lucianna Thuo.
Call for Papers
The call for papers invites experts and researchers to submit work addressing privacy and data protection issues within the highlighted sectors, including healthcare, finance, insurance, e-commerce, telecommunications, and Election Data Governance.
The 2024 winner was a paper titled: ‘Digital Banking and Privacy in Zimbabwe: Investigating the privacy implications of digital banking services.’ submitted by Melissa Chasi, a Data Protection Officer at Potraz, Zimbabwe.
2024 Privacy Scorecard Report Launch
The 2024 Privacy Scorecard Report evaluates privacy practices of organizations and companies, focusing on Uganda, Kenya, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Tanzania. This report aims to provide objective measurements for analyzing policies and practices, offering insights valuable to policymakers, businesses, and individuals.
Panel Discussions
The 6th PSA hosted insightful panel discussions, offering a forum to explore the evolving landscape of privacy and data protection across various sectors, notably Law, Finance and Banking, Insurance, Journalism, AI, Election Data Governance, and Surveillance. Renowned experts guided conversations, encouraging participants to explore the future of privacy in Africa firsthand.
